摘要:This classification scheme was developed as the result of the recommendation made in the Survey Report on the Army Medical Library, published in 1944 under the sponsorship of the American Library Association and with the financial backing of the Rockefeller Foundation. This report recommended that the "Library be reclassified according to a modern scheme,"' and further stated that the best which could be devised should combine the notation of the Library of Congress with the basic plan of the Cunningham classification. Permission was to be sought for such a revision of the Library of Congress schedules for medicine. If the permission could not be obtained, a new scheme was to be devised utilizing these features.
