摘要:This is the latest of recent books written by parents of handicapped children. Others which have attracted attention are Pearl Buck's Child Who Never Grew (1950), Leona S. Bruckner's Triumph of Love (1954), and John P. Frank's My Son's Story (1952). In this her first book, Mrs. Tucker accomplished what she set out to do: to tell the story in simple language of her thirty-three year struggle with the problem of a mentally retarded child. As is usual, in these cases, the struggle is mainly with herself. The book is written primarily for other parents who are continually seeking for clues to their dilemmas. More often than not, they seek ways to avoid facing the unpleasant fact of their children's disabilities. It is intended for school teachers, too; in fact, for anyone who must understand the psychology of parents to work successfully with handicapped children.
