摘要：P OWERFUL cultural forces have conditioned the evolution of medicine during the past two centuries and medicine itself has exerted an increasing cultural pressure. Today medicine is one of the most potent determinants of human history and in a completely literal sense is "making" history as history has never been made before. This paper will elaborate the historical effects of some of these forces as well as the developments of medicine with which they have been interlocked.
