摘要：ONE of the characteristics of professional groups in our society is a concern with the concept of continuing education. This is grounded in the need felt by the groups to bridge the gap between basic formal education and effective professional practice. Professionals require "refreshment" of several kinds: knowledge of techniques to turn ideas into action, a retelling of things forgotten, new ideas and recent advances, and a renewed exposure to the philosophical basis of the profession.
