摘要:The state of library automation is not so far advanced in Great Britain as it is in the United States, and these papers may sound a bit elementary to anyone who has been engaged in the field for any length of time. However, they are all extremely practical descriptions of what is actually going on, written by librarians for librarians. As few British libraries have the financial resources of even the most average American university, perhaps some of the systems described might be of value to some of the smaller libraries in this country, to whom the large-based, year 2001-systems as described in some of the professional literature are merelypie in the sky. This particular number contains a description of a simplified catalog or finding list for the London borough of Camden's public library system, a methodology for systems analysis of a university library, with accounts of what is being done at the University of Lancaster, an accounting system at the City University, a report on the circulation system at the University at Southampton, and a brief summary of MARC II format. In short, this looks like an extremely useful newsletter which might be helpful in giving people some new ideas. It is published quarterly.
