摘要:IN all disciplines of education, especially medicine, there is a growing interest in the potential of audiovisual materials as communication tools. A medium that is frequently used and yet has a vast number of storage and retrieval problems is the 35 mm slide. Often a doctor, professor, or instructor would prefer to have new slides made for each lecture or presentation than to retrieve previously used slides from his files. Educators, librarians, audiovisual department directors, and others have difficulty storing slides for quick and easy retrieval. To solve this problem at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, a slide retrieval system for biomedical slides has been developed using Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) and its sevenlevel tree structures. MeSH, a universal subject heading list, is well suited for indexing biomedical slides.
