摘要:LIBRARIANS are bombarded by requests from vendors to use their services for ordering books. In selecting a vendor, a number of factors should be considered. The Health Sciences Library at East Carolina University conducted a study to determine if there are significant differences among book jobbers in the following areas: (1) Proportion of books supplied per order. (2) Mean period of time required for receipt of books. (3) Mean period of time for the receipt of both the book and the invoice. (4) The types and numbers of problems encountered with each vendor. (5) Relationships between the year of publication and the ability of a vendor to supply a publication. (6) Special services provided.
