Hospital Health Science Libraries, 1969-1979" (Bulletin, 1983 Jan;7 1 [1] :30-6), Table 5 indicates that the average hospital library borrowed 569 items per year and loaned 6.6, with hospitals of 500 beds or larger borrowing 1,364 items and loaning 20! Crawford stated, "These data have important implications for planning and allocating library resources."
