摘要:US per capita fruit and vegetable consumption is below the level recommended for better health. The paper examines how health information linking diet and health, as measured by a health information index has affected fruit and vegetable consumption. Results indicate that health information has a significant impact on the consumption of grapes, bananas and citrus as well as in carrots, tomatoes and bell peppers. This suggests that raising public awareness about specific health benefits of eating fruits and vegetables can be an effective strategy to increase consumption.
