摘要:BACKGROUND: Since 1992, a series of studiesidentifying and quantifying the impacts of technol-ogy development and transfer (TDT) for agriculturaland natural resources in sub-Saharan Africa hasbeen funded by AID and other donors. Thesestudies have played a crucial role in reversing theconventional wisdom of the 1980s and early 1990s,namely that TDT hadn't generated impact. In fact,African agricultural TDT has contributed tosubstantial improvements in the welfare of Africanproducers and consumers. Moreover, the studieshave helped to delineate the role that agriculturalTDT can play in helping to address the very seriouschallenges that confront Africa and Africans today.
