摘要：The shrimp harvesting sector is the largest component of the southeast United States commercial fishingindustry, accounting for 55 to 60 percent of the total value of landings in the region in 1993. The U.S. importmarket for shrimp was valued at $2.7 billion in 1995. Together, domestic production and imports of the rawproduct support a large shrimp processing sector, which provides several thousand jobs either directly orindirectly (Keithly, Roberts and Ward, 1993).
