摘要:In despite of the several advantages for exporting ground and roasted coffee instead of green coffee, namely employment and value gains, there are many limitations to the private efforts. Effective attempts have been discouraged by large and stable national market, high risks associated to the international market, and a frightening bureaucracy. Even so, some progress has been reported in recent years as is shown in this paper, based on interviews with Brazilian export agents, industries and cooperatives. Some restrictions are inherent to the enterprises, such as managerial questions and innovation aptitude, while others are systemic. Suggestions to improve processed coffee exports are presented.
