摘要:Studies have examined the characteristics of excellent general and special education teachers. However, comparatively few studies have examined the characteristics of excellent teachers of students with low-incidence disabilities. Outstanding teachers of students with low-incidence disabilities were contacted to determine their willingness to share information about their teaching practices and beliefs by participating in interviews. Teachers were selected for participation because they were recipients of the annual Excellence in Education Award sponsored by the National Center on Low-Incidence Disabilities. Qualitative analysis of the 12 interviews revealed several common characteristics of excellent teachers of students with low-incidence disabilities including high expectations, communication, respect, professional knowledge, and relationships.
