标题:Factors Affecting the Formation of Aflatoxin in Hazelnut, Regulations Related with Limit Values by European Union (EU) and the Effects of These to Turkish Hazelnut Exportation
摘要:Hazelnut is one of the agricultural products that provide the highest amount of foreign exchange in Turkey. However, hazelnut can be exposed to mould growth and aflatoxin during harvest, drying and storing like other nuts and cereals. There are legal or recommended aflatoxin levels for hazelnut just like many other food items. This level for total aflatoxin anf AFB1 is 4 and 2 ppb respectively while exporting hazelnut to the countries that are the members of EU. Turkey tries to stay under these limitations both legally and scientifically in hazelnut exportation. Authorities from importer countries inform RASFF about the negative results of aflatoxin. It is an obligatory to keep on eye on the level of aflatoxin in hazelnut in order to protect consumers ' health and not to be exposed to any embargo.
