摘要：In this research, 57 ground beef samples were analyzed by EZ Coli kit and simultaneously by conventional culture techniques for the presence of E. coli O157: H7 serotype. Although 2 positive results (3.5%) were obtained by EZ Coli kit, no E. coli O157 isolation was succeeded from the SMAC agar dishes spread from EZ Coli enrichment broth and also LST broth and mEC broth cultures of the same samples. These results indicate that this kit is very sensitive even the masking of cohabitant flora in agar media. On the contrary, one E. coli O157 was isolated from EZ Coli kit enrichment broth culture while the kit gave negative result. Hence a suspicion was borne about the sensitiveness of the kit. Even if the kit is highly sensitive, if no isolation can be done by conventional techniques or it can not be determined whether the isolates are H7 serotype and/or verocytotoxigenic, the kit will have not have any chance to be employed for routine analysis.
