摘要:Bioluminescent measurement of microbial ATP using the firefly luciferin-luciferase system is a rapid and sensitive technique for the estimation of microbial populations which may be completed within 1 hr. This represents considerable time-savings in comparison to conventional microbial enumeration techniques requiring 2-3 days for completion. It is reported that there are some difficulties in applying microbial ATP measurements to foods including interference from ATP of nonmicrobial origin. Various developments are necessary to increase the acceptance of the method, in particular automation and the provision of more detailed information such as analysing of some pathogenic and specific microorganisms.
