摘要:In this research, summer and winter seeds of open pollinated cross-bred lines of 6 foreign originated safflower varieties which are still breeding at the Department of Field Crops, Faculty of Agriculture, Ankara University were selected and oil ratios, physical and chemical properties and fatty acid compositions of the oils extracted from these selected seeds were determined by gas chromatography. Analysis results indicate that the crude oil contents of the safflower seeds varied between 31% and 39%. For the seeds of safflower varieties and cross-bred lines as their hulls thinned, hull ratios decreased but hulled seed ratios and crude oil ratios increased. Safflower oil is an edible oil in classification which contains high level unsaturated fatty acids. The linoleic acid content which is one of the essential fatty acids were determined to be up to 81% of the total fatty acids in some cross-bred lines.
