  • 摘要:Modern economies are characterised by an increasing number of educated workers. However, parallel to the increase of the educational level of labour force, there is also overeducation as mismatch in the labour market that all developed modern economies are faced with. The frequency of over-education is differently connected with a large number of features at the labour market, both related to individuals and to jobs. Current research in other countries suggest that gender, age or work experience of an individual, as well as economic activity, type of ownership and company size are likely to be connected with the occurrence of over-education in the labour market. The aim of this paper is to analyse the connection between the phenomenon of over-education in the labour market of the Republic of Croatia with relevant socio-economic characteristics of workers and jobs. The analysis was conducted on the basis of individual data of the Labour Force Survey for the period 1998-2010, and binary logistic regression was used. The results suggest that there is a great likelihood for over-education in the labour market of the Republic of Croatia in the groups of young workers, highly educated women with little work experience in large companies that are privately owned. Such results are consistent with experiences from different countries around the world and confirm theoretical hypotheses.
