  • 摘要:The present work was undertaken to optimize the seed germination of Brachychiton populneus and Brachychiton acerifolius using different pretreatments. The goal is to make available to nurserymen and services of green areas a simple model of production plants of both species. In this study, it was found that the seeds of Brachychiton populneu s (Schott & Endl.) R.Br. and Brachychiton acerifolius F.Muell. are assigned a integumentary inhibition that prevents or retards their germination in natural conditions. To remove this seed coat dormancy, seeds of both species have undergone various pretreatments corresponding to a soaking in water at room temperature, or physical scarification by soaking in boiling water until cool for 12 h, 24 h, 48 h and 72 h. Pretreated seeds were placed in plastic bags filled with peat, setting germination was done in an oven set at a temperature of 25 ± 2 °C. The results showed that the scarification seed of Brachychiton populneus and Brachychiton acerifolius in boiling water for 24 h, helps speed up germination, reduce latency and mean germination time and achieve higher germination rate.
