摘要:Objective: To analyze the results in terms of morbidity and mortality following laparoscopic cholecystectomy Design and Duration: It is a prospective analysis of all cases of laparoscopic cholecystectomy done from July 2006 to July 2010. Setting: Hamdard University Hospital and other private hospitals of Karachi where authors practice Patients and methods: All patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy were included in the study. Demographic data, clinical diagnosis, operative time and postoperative complications were entered on a predesigned proforma. Results: Total of 548 patients were operated during the study period, out of them 89% were females and 11% males; their ages ranged from 15 to 80 years, 438 patient were chronic cholecystitis. Our conversion rate was 3%.7 patients developed bleeding from the port site, 15 patents had port site infection and 4 bile duct injury. No mortality was recorded. Conclusion: laparoscopic cholecystectomy in experienced hands is a safe treatment option for both acute and chronic cholecystitis.
