摘要:Objective: This is a descriptive research aiming to detect in a group of psychiatry clinic patients the aggression potential and certain effective factors. Methods: The research has covered 157 patients who received in-patient treatment in the psychiatry clinic of a university hospital between June 2010 and May 2011. Research data have been compiled by the Information Form and Aggression Scale prepared by the researchers in line with relevant literature. Obtained data have been analyzed with SPSS 16.0 package computer program. In the data evaluation number-frequency distributions average and standard deviation values, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test have been utilized. Findings: According to research findings age average of patients is 32.49±10.20, 59.2% are men, 45.9% are elementary education graduates, 51.0% are single, 67.5% live in nucleus family and 23.6% are employed. The classification of disease is such; 26.8% of patients have depression and suicidal tendency, 25.5% have bipolar affective disorder, 21.7% are diagnosed with schizophrenia, they have received average 3.17±3.63 times of inpatient treatment and have been sick for approximately 6.02±5.63 years. Total score of the Aggression Scale of Patients was found to be 78.15±25.92 and 58.6% of the patients had extreme level of aggression potential. The factors enhancing the occurrence of aggression potential have been listed such: History of abuse and violence, having lost someone significant during the latest year, history of aggression in the past, clash with the laws and receiving punishment. It deserves close attention that more than half of the patients have extreme aggression potential. This evidences that the patients need to be diagnosed accurately starting from the exact moment they are hospitalized.
