摘要：This study aims to provide a thorough presentation of the history of one of modern Greece's oldest hospital, the Naval Hospital of Salamis (NHS). The information presented here is based on a detailed study of all the archives kept in the Naval Hospital of Salamis and the Department of History of the Hellenic Naval Forces. This work provides evidence of the important role the Naval Hospital played in the medical history of Southern Europe. Evidence was found in reference to the hospital's contribution in the field of medicine dating from the 19th century until current days. Based on pub- lications found in the archives, we note the high sci- entific standards followed by physicians in the hos- pital during the 19th century. The history of all Naval Hospitals in Greece is closely associated with the history of the Greek Naval Bases.
