摘要：Dear colleagues, dear friends Editorial Technically, we have been the new editorial team of the Balkan Military Medical Review since the beginning of 2011 but we really have just recently rolled up our sleeves... It has been a significant period of time for us with the succession, firstly, of our colleagues in the Greek National Board for the Balkan Military Medical Committee and, secondly, of our Turkish colleagues who so diligently dealt with the Journals affairs during the last few years... Our aim will be to continue their fine job and take things a step further, if possible... It is not going to be an easy task, we are aware of that... It can be a bit tricky to stimulate interest for a multi- faceted medical journal in a multi-faceted medical family... or, one would say, very easy indeed!!... The fact is or, at least, it seems that it has been closer to the former than the latter during the BMMRs whole life;; the idea is, therefore, to give it a good go to try and reverse the trend... In this issue we present work from Bulgarian colleagues in the areas of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, whereas Greek colleagues introduce us to a Sports Disability study. There is also an interesting case report on a patient who suffered reactivation of Hansens disease following chemotherapy for cancer treatment. We welcome fresh ideas and suggestions regarding the way forward for this journal. We are confident that you, our military medical colleagues in this historic corner of the world, the Balkans, will have a lot to contribute.
