标题:Experiences from Post-Graduate Courses organized by the NATO International Security and Assistance Force (ISAF) in Support of the Afghan Health System

摘要:Introduction: This article aims to share the experience and evaluations for the future gained from the "Emergency Care for Trauma" course on 14-15 April 2010 and "Emergency Care, echocardiography, anesthetical applica tions, blood bank management, and medical technician course" on 18-21 December 2010 performed with the attendance of Afghan medical personnel were to be shared. Method: The courses were evaluated retrospectively under the titles including; course curriculum, training instructors, participant characteristics, participant evaluations and course of events, preparation, execution and results. Results: 13 hours of theoretical training, 6 hours of practical stations with a total of 19 training hours of the course were scheduled for execution in two days. An organization committee composed including one president, two secretaries, six trainers and six assistant trainers. Moreover, three interpreters assisted for the simultaneous translation. A total of 24 and 25 medical personnel attended the two courses, respectively. Pre-test and post-test were administered to course participants before and after the course in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the first course. Darish simultaneous translation was done during all training sessions. At the end of each course, reviews from participants were discussed. Discussion and conclusion: The experience gained from the course and direction of the participants revealed that it needs to be repeated every six months. More time was decided to be offered for the practical part of the course. Educational training course has been planned after 4-5 periods of courses for the Afghan health workers. In this way, the course was planned to get integrated into the Afghan health system. Post-graduate courses are important components of modern health care systems. In many developed countries, these kind of courses have become compulsory and are performed regularly. However, standardized and regularly performed courses in developing countries are currently not the norm and should be supported.
