摘要：A number of patients with schizophrenia have diabetes mellitus in higher rates than the general population due to some pathophysiologic and genetic mechanisms and effects of antipsychotic drugs. Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state is an acute metabolic complication of diabetes and an important process up to coma. Here, we describe two cases who developed a mild hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state associated with the use of new-generation antipsychotic drugs, presented in emergency department and treated as inpatients.
