These activities include the use of combustion equipment and domestic products; they can also cause passive smoke exposure and moulds (contamination of materials by microorganisms). Various types of illness and discomfort have been associated with indoor air pollutants. Recommendations to prevent indoor pollution include: adequate ventilation, elimination of domestic dust, maintenance of combustion equipment, reduction of exposure to volatile organic compounds, and monitoring the wear of fibre materials.
