These assessments were published in volume 100 of IARC monographs. The main new evidence concerns the identification of new cancer sites sufficiently associated with asbestos (cancer of the larynx and ovarian cancer) and formaldehyde (leukaemia). In addition, cancer sites with “limited evidence” were systematically identified. Most of the carcinogenic agents reassessed are agents present in the workplace. We indicate for each of the agents and circumstances of occupational exposure, the correspondence with the occupational disease (OD) tables in France. Several cancer sites for which the IARC concluded that there was sufficient evidence are not currently recognized in an OD table. Moreover, many of the carcinogens reassessed in 2009 are not covered by an OD table. These include occupational exposure as a painter (except for benzene and chromates), the rubber industry, and exposure to leather dust and beryllium. For these agents and occupational exposure scenarios, we discuss the possibility of recognition in France as an OD associated with “other cancers”, based on the fourth paragraph of article L-461.1 of the Social Security Code through the regional committee for recognition of OD ( Comité régional de reconnaissance des maladies professionnelles [CRRMP]).
