This enthusiasm, however, is accompanied by increasing concerns about the human and environmental safety of nanomaterials, concerns that produce an ever-higher number of publications about nanotoxicology. The strong heterogeneity of these studies makes it difficult to synthesise and use them to assess the human health effects of nanomaterials. In this context, we propose a scoring method to sort these studies, taking into account an assessment of both their quality and their results. The method is based on three indices: a quality index, an interest index, and a toxicity index. The resulting method is a data tool that is fast, reliable, and easy to apply for an initial screening of the literature.
