The experimental studies are open to criticism because the cognitive neuropsychology is not integrated and the pain recall mix up different components as the somatic one and the verbal or visual recall of the pain scales used at the onset of the painful event. The role of the episodic, semantic and implicit memories of pain is discussed. The phantom-pain which may be a rare reappearance of an old forgotten pain demonstrates that the brain conserve all the painful event, even if the bodily evocation is not spontaneously possible. The memory of pain is also a good model pour the study of some emotional behaviours and psychogenic diseases.
