Beyond technical or agronomic adaptations, this introduction shows the cultural importance, today we would speak of the sense of identity, palm plantations took on in the oases of the Maghreb. In fact, one realises that by reconstituting a space akin to their native land in New Caledonia, the people from the oases addressed an instinct for survival.
