At the same time it provides a superficial impression of being at a standstill. This article challenges these too common pictures by highlighting the intense mutations that are currently taking place. To that end, it shows the historical role played by extensive livestock husbandry in the region. The diversity of the current types of husbandry reveals how considerable these mutations are and how important is the innovation capacity of the stockowners. The appropriation of the land resources, the productive utilization of water resources and the oncoming of milk production channels in the local arenas bring about deep changes. Livestock husbandry reveals, and at the same time organizes, rural spaces, and the innovations that can be observed confirm how much it represents an ideal support for complex strategies.
