Page(s) : 97-102 Published in: 1992 From the AVHRR-Global Vegetation Index (GVI) data set produced by NOAA, new monthly composites are extracted, regarding seven years of global monitoring over the semi-arid Nordeste of Brazil. Space and time-related variations of plant cover phenology are displayed and compared with ground based rainfall data. Both data sets are digitally processed for computer mapping and for analyzing their specific relationships. Four key-periods are taken into account to monitor the dynamics of seasonal drought.
