We used seasonal monitoring of flora richness for three years in our study. Jaccard’s index was calculated in the more humid seasons (spring 2004 and 2006). This study was carried out along transects radiating around three wells located in the communal rangelands of El Ouara, pre-Saharan Tunisia. The main results show: i) seasonal drought affects floristic richness more than animal activity; ii) the annual/perennial ratio is more strongly influenced by seasonal drought; and iii) Jaccard’s index shows that the disturbance of the arid Tunisian steppes can enhance their floristic homogenization.
