Plants were cultivated in rhizotrons. The main results show rapid root development of the three species from the first months following germination (month of November), even though the growth of the Acacia raddiana rooting system was negatively influenced by the low winter temperatures. Such behaviour constitutes, in natural conditions, one of the adaptive characteristics to hard climatic conditions of the species studied and should be, therefore, taken into account when raising seedlings in nurseries.
