The flora is made up of 132 species belonging to 99 genuses and 48 families. Most of the species are herbaceous and more than half of them are annuals. Perennial herbaceous and woody plants represent only a small proportion. The flora is typical of highly diversified environments: Saharian and Sahelian, semiaquatic and aquatic fresh water and brackish coastal habitats. This diversity of biogeographic types is a result of the diversity of the intertropically distributed environments. This flora is indeed characterized by a marked presence of Pantropical, Afro-Asian and ubiquitous species at the cost of purely African species. Due to the diversity of the ecosystem in such a relatively small area, the park represents an outstanding zone of high biodiversity.
