The aim of this study is to describe the frequency with which mexican fathers perform rearing tasks with their children, as well as obtaining the validity and reliability of a questionnaire which measures these tasks. The Rearing Task Questionnaire for Parents developed by Rink and Knot-Dickscheit (2002) was applied. The sample consisted of 670 male parents with adolescent children between 12 and 17 years of age from the metropolitan area of the Valley of Toluca in the State of Mexico. The results show that all eight rearing tasks are considered relevant by the fathers. Additionally, a reliability score of 0.98, measured through Cronbach’s Alpha, was obtained. These findings indicate that the fathers are involved in the daily upbringing process, contrasting with the traditional Mexican socio-cultural context.
