摘要:This article illustrates how through the media roles have been associated with gender identities that are harmful to both men and women. If women have been hampered their integration into the public space and the development of their professional life on the grounds that they should be devoted to caring activities; in the case of men, they have been deprived of the development of some aspects of their personality linking with their family life and associated to the traditional conception of feminine values. The result has been a mutilation of both identities: male and female as a person. Finally, the importance of the media to offer a critical perspective of these patriarchal distortions and promote social criticism to achieve greater equality between men and women is suggested.
