摘要：Com o crescente turismo no Continente Antártico, surge a ameaça da tragédia dos comuns, ou seja, na ausência de uma regulamentação internacional específica sobre o turismo na Antártica, o aumento desenfreado do fluxo turístico poderia ser insustentável levando a danos permanentes ao meio-ambiente da região. A partir de ampla revisão bibliográfica e documental e, de estudo etnográfico a bordo do MS Veendam da Holland America na temporada 2009-2010 e de entrevistas semi-estrututuradas com 42 turistas abordo, a hipótese da tragédia dos comuns em curso foi rejeitada, pois foi possível observar que grande parte do crescimento do turismo no Continente é fruto de grandes cruzeiros que não realizam desembarques em terra e seguem rigorosamente regras e recomendações de diversas organizações envolvidas no turismo antártico.
其他摘要：With the growing number of tourists visiting the Antarctic Continent increases the threat of the tragedy of commons. In other words, in the absence of a specific international regulation on Antarctic tourism the rapid influx of tourists may be unsustainable leading to permanent damages to the environment. After a thoughtful literature and documental revision and an ethnographic study aboard MS Veendam from Holland America at 2009-2010 season and 47 semi-structured interviews with tourists aboard, we rejected the hypothesis of an ongoing tragedy of commons. Most of the recent growth in the number of tourists in the Continent was in big cruise ships that were not allowed to disembark. Moreover, those companies do follow rules and recommendations from several organizations evolved in the Antarctic tourism.
