摘要：Se analiza el paternalismo como ideología e instrumento de sujeción política a partir de la figura del Padre Simbólico y en relación con la sublevación de Túpac Amaru a fines del siglo XVIII. Desde esta perspectiva se abordan actitudes aparentamente contradictorias o inexplicables de los rebeldes y del propio Túpac Amaru, ubicándolas dentro del marco de gran religiosidad y de devoción al rey que imperaban en la época.
