摘要：Este artículo aborda las acciones públicas de preservación del patrimonio cultural del barrio de Praia Grande, localizado en la ciudad de São Luís (Maranhão), entre 1970 y 1997; y propone una reflexión acerca de los desafíos para la sustentabilidad urbana en medio del proceso de valoración de este espacio urbano por el segmento de turismo cultural. Por medio de la investigación bibliográfica y documental, se propone un debate sobre cuestiones referentes a la planificación urbana y al desarrollo sustentable, analizando la transformación del patrimonio local en un bien de consumo turístico. El estudio apunta a la necesidad de una articulación intersectorial e integrada entre los agentes locales para promover la revitalización del patrimonio cultural del barrio de Praia Grande, atendiendo las prioridades locales, fundamentalmente en lo que se refiere a la mejora de la calidad de vida de las comunidades.
其他摘要：The article examines the public actions to preserve the cultural heritage of the district of Praia Grande, located in Sao Luis, Maranhao, in the period 1970 to 1997, proposing a reflection on the challenges to urban sustainability through the process of recovery urban space by the segment of cultural tourism. By means of literature and documents, we propose a discussion on issues relating to urban planning and sustainable development, analyzing the transformation of the heritage site into a tourist commodity. The study highlights the need for intersectoral and integrated approach between local agents to promote the revitalization of the cultural heritage of the district of Praia Grande in order to meet local priorities, particularly with regard to improving the quality of the life of communities.
