摘要：O presente trabalho discute a problemática da comunicação na família à luz das relações vinculares entre filhos, pais e avós, fundamentando-se nos tópicos: interação e poder. Usou-se como base a metodologia da observação participante e da análise dos discursos dos sujeitos (20 mulheres idosas e 10 jovens) ao relatarem, pela comunicação verbal, não verbal e escrita suas trajetórias de vida. Foram abordados elementos vinculados à identidade de gênero e de poder, a partir de pressupostos teóricos e na forma como o gênero se articula no contexto e nos espaços de poder da família, representados como o terreno simbólico do masculino. São evidentes os conflitos entre os papéis tradicionalmente atribuídos à mulher idosa e os novos papéis a ela impostos, na interação com os jovens. Ficou demonstrado que há na prática do cotidiano, a intenção de, incorporando novos saberes, modificar atitudes comunicacionais, buscando a compreensão de papéis e valores conflitantes, através da construção de parcerias entre as gerações mais jovens e as mais velhas.
其他摘要：The present study discusses the problem of communication in the family, focusing on the relationship between children, parents, and grandparents, especially in issues of interaction and power. The methodology used was participant observation and discourse analysis of the life history of 20 elderly and 10 young women, reported either in written, verbal or non-verbal form. Gender identity and power space represented as the male symbolic domain was of major interest. Conflicts between the roles traditionally attributed to women, associated to prejudices regarding elderly women and the new roles imposed on them, in the interaction with the young generation, were evident. It was demonstrated that, in their daily lives, there is the intention, by incorporating new knowledge, to modify communicational attitudes and try and understand the conflicting roles and values, through the construction of partnership between older and younger generations.
