摘要：O objetivo do estudo foi identificar a ocorrência de sobrepeso e obesidade em adolescentes com síndrome de Down (SD) e estabelecer relações com alterações hormonais, cardiopatias diagnosticadas e alimentação. Participaram do estudo 40 adolescentes com SD e suas respectivas mães. Os dados foram coletados no ambulatório de um hospital em São Paulo a partir de tomada de medidas antropométricas, ficha sociodemográfica e questionário aplicado às mães. Dos participantes, 60% apresentaram sobrepeso e obesidade, acompanhados de alterações de tireoide (50%), cardiopatias (57,5%) e compulsão alimentar em (66,6%). Não houve relação direta entre o excesso de peso e a presença de cardiopatia. A combinação de diversos fatores pode interferir no ganho de peso nos adolescentes com SD, destacando-se as alterações metabólicas como o hipotireoidismo e a presença de busca compulsiva por alimentos.
其他摘要：The study aimed to identify the occurrence of overweight and obesity in adolescents with Down syndrome (DS) and to establish relations with hormonal changes, heart disease diagnosed and feeding aspects. There are 40 teens with SD to participate in this study and their mothers too. Data were collected at the clinic of a hospital in Sao Paulo from doing anthropometric measures, socio-demographic data and questionnaire completed to the mothers. 60% of participants showed overweight and obesity and changes in thyroid (50%), and binge eating in (66.6%). There was no direct relationship between excess weight and the presence of heart disease. The combination of several factors can interfere in weight gain in teen ages with SD, in this case the changes as the metabolic hypothyroidism and the presence of compulsory search for foods.
