摘要：Objetivo: caracterizar algunos elementos que posibiliten el análisis histórico del modelo educativo de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad del Zulia. Metodología: investigación de tipo documental, descriptiva, para la cual se aplican técnicas de análisis de contenido que posibilitan extraer los caracteres más relevantes en relación a antecedentes y logros históricos del proceso evaluado desde su origen hasta el momento, haciendo énfasis en el modelo filosófico operativo del plan académico vigente. Resultados: en su evolución histórica, el modelo educativo ha experimentado transformaciones significativas a partir de la década de los sesenta, sustentadas en un cambio de paradigma centrado en el compromiso social, el cual ha venido incorporando elementos que nutren su enfoque epistémico. Conclusiones: Facoluz en su devenir académico, ha generado experiencia y reflexión permanente que le ha permitido mantenerse a la vanguardia en materia educativa. Este proceso de aprendizaje ha discurrido unas veces, sostenido en el tiempo y otras, interferido por múltiples circunstancias, pero siempre con el convencimiento de que las metas son posibles de alcanzar sí se cuenta con la voluntad política de sus dirigentes y el compromiso de todos los actores involucrados en un proceso que expresa la responsabilidad de la institución con los intereses del país y de la región.
其他摘要：Objective: to characterize some elements which facilitate historical analysis of the educational model in the School of Dentistry at the University of Zulia. Methodology: a documentary, descriptive study was carried out. Con tent analysis techniques were applied, making it possible to distinguish the most important characteristics regardinghis tori cal back grounds and achievements of the process from its beginnings to today, emphasizing the operative philosophical model of the current academic plan. Results: the educational model has experienced significant transformations from the 1960s on, supported by a par a digm shift centered on social commitment, which has in corporated some elements that support its epistemic approach, as can be appreciated in its historical development. Conclusions: the academic evolution of Facoluz has generated an experience and a permanent reflection that has allowed it to be in the vanguard in educational matters. This learning process has some times been sustained over time, and at others, has been interfered with by multiple circunstances; how ever, it has al ways shown the conviction that goals can be reached if one can count on the political will of its leaders and the commitment of all the actors involved in a process that expresses the responsibility of the institution related to the interests of the country and the region.
