摘要：Objetivo: caracterizar el plan de estudio vigente de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad del Zulia y los fundamentos teóricos-metodo lógicos que sustentan su modelo educativo. Parte del análisis histórico de los cambios estructurales y funcionales que ha transita do la institución, el cual devela un marco epistemológico que reafirma su compromiso social. Metodología: el estudio fue documental y descriptivo. El es tu dio de las fuentes documenta les de tipo analítico-expositivo. Resultados: El Plan de Estudio se estructura en función de áreas y ejes cuniculares que muestran correspondencia con los elementos estructurales que conforman el diseño curricular. Conclusiones: el plan posibilita la formación de talento humano cuya praxis apunta a la transformación cuali-cuantitativa, de la situación de salud bucal de la población. Reafirma el modelo educativo docencia-servicio-investigación e inserta conceptos como la bioética, la transculturalidad, la epi-disciplinariedad y el uso de lenguas autóctonas de la región y el país. Finalmente, integra la teoría y la práctica en el marco de la estrategia de la atención primaria en salud.
其他摘要：Objective: To characterize the theoretical-methodologic aspects which sustain the educative model of the Faculty of Odontolgy of the University of Zulia. Part of the historical analysis of the structural and functional changes that has journeyed the institution, which reveals an epistemology frame that reaffirms its social commitment. Methodology: the study was documentary and descriptive. The study of the documentary sources of analytical type - expose. Results: The Curriculum structure based on areas and axes curricular that shows correspondence with the structural elements that conform the curricular design. Conclusions: the plan makes possible the formation of human talent whose praxis aims at the cuali-quantitative transformation, of the situation of buccal health of the population. Teaching-service-investigation reaf firms the educative model and inserts concepts like the bioethics, the transculturalidad, the epi-disciplinariedad and the use of native languages of the region and the country. Finally, integrates the theory and the practice within the framework of the strategy of the primary attention in health.
