The purpose of this investigation is to analyze the personal well-being of older adults in Monterrey, Mexico. According with this goal, the present article explores the factors that contribute to predict and maintain this well-being such as socioeconomic layers, genre, civil state, age, schooling, personal autonomy or the lack of it, social presence or absence of diseases and social interactions. The well-being concept includes: the actual satisfaction and the satisfaction with life in general, the mood, the perception of time and present happiness and the appreciation of happiness though life. In order to collect information, a sample of 1,056 cases was established, including women and men in a rank from 65 to 99 years old. With the purpose of examining the information obtained, a scale of social interaction and personal well-being was constructed with a score referred to autonomy/lack of autonomy, and presence/absence of diseases. The results of this regression indicate a significant predictive relation of the social interaction, schooling, the autonomy and the absence of significant diseases with the personal well-being in older adults. On the contrary, the socioeconomic position, the genre, the civil state, and the age do not contribute significantly to the personal well being of older adults in Monterrey.
