摘要：Fundamento: la bioseguridad representa un componente vital del sistema de garantía de la calidad, es una doctrina encaminada a lograr actitudes y conductas que disminuyan el riesgo del trabajador de adquirir infecciones en el medio laboral. Objetivo: elevar el nivel de conocimientos sobre la bioseguridad en los trabajadores de la salud del Hospital de Santa Cruz del Sur. M étodo: se realizó una intervención educativa sobre la bioseguridad en los trabajadores de la salud del Hospital Enrique Santiesteban Báez desde el 1ro de enero al 30 de septiembre de 2008. El universo se conformó por cuatro cientos ochenta y tres trabajadores, se tomó una muestra de ciento doce trabajadores seleccionados a través de un muestreo aleatorio simple a los que se les aplicó un cuestionario. Resultados: se evidenció que antes de recibir las labores educativas existían conocimientos adecuados sobre qué es la bioseguridad, las precauciones universales, las enfermedades que se pueden contraer si no se cumplen con las medidas de seguridad biológica y qué se debe hacer ante un accidente con un objeto corto punzante utilizado en un paciente con VIH/SIDA. No así en cuanto al nivel de conocimiento sobre las legislaciones vigentes, el cual fue bajo. Conclusiones: después de aplicar la intervención se logró un aumento significativo del conocimiento en los trabajadores sobre la bioseguridad, por lo que se consideró efectiva la intervención.
其他摘要：Background: biosecurity represents a vital component of the system of quality warranty, it is a doctrine guided to achieve attitudes and behaviors that reduce worker's risk of acquiring infections in the labor environment. Objective: to elevate the knowledge level on biosecurity in health workers at the Hospital of Santa Cruz del Sur. Method: an educational intervention on biosecurity in health workers of the Hospital Enrique Santiesteban Báez was carried out from January 1 st to September 30, 2008. The universe was conformed by fourhundred eightythree workers, was took a sample of onehundredtwelve workers selected through a simple random sampling to those a questionnaire were applied. Results: it was evidenced that before receiving the educational works appropriate knowledge existed on what biosecurity is, universal cautions, diseases that may contract if they do not fulfilled the biological security measures and what it should be made before an accident with a piercing short object used in a HIV/AIDS patient. On the contrary of knowledge level about legislations in use, which was low. Conclusions: after applying the intervention a significant increase of knowledge was achieved in workers on biosecurity, for what was considered effective the intervention.
