摘要:Se realizó un estudio observacional a 33 pacientes diagnosticados y tratados por osteomielitis hematógena aguda en el servicio de Ortopedia y Traumatología del Hospital Provincial Pediátrico "Eduardo Agramonte Piña" de la ciudad de Camagüey en un período de tres años. Predominó el sexo masculino con 26 casos (78.7 %). Los grupos de edades con mayor incidencia fueron los de hasta 5 y de 6 a 10 años con más de un 30 % cada uno. El trauma fue el antecedente más encontrado en 18 pacientes para un 54.5 %. La osteomielitis aguda resultó la más frecuente, 20 pacientes (60.6 %). El germen más encontrado lo constituyó Staphilococus aureus en más de 60 %. Los antibióticos con mayor porcentaje de sensibilidad fueron la Amikacina y Cefazolina (88.8 %). La terapia antibiótica hasta tres semanas representó el 66.6 %. La estadía hospitalaria promedio fue de 10.7 d. Desde el punto de vista de la localización, la mano fue la de mayor incidencia con un 30 %. El tratamiento más utilizado fue el conservador en el 60.6 % de los pacientes.
