摘要：A Carta Constitucional de 1826 foi a lei fundamental de maior duração na História do Portugal contemporâneo encontrando-se em vigor durante três períodos distintos (1826-1828, 1834-1836 e 1842-1910). O documento original foi revisto em quatro momentos ao longo do século XIX e nos inícios do XX (1852, 1885, 1895-1896 e 1907), traduzindo momentos distintos na evolução política do reino. Este texto procura sumariar as sucessivas fases de revisão constitucional, com particular destaque para a que ocorreu em 1885, uma vez que esta se tratou da única reforma pactuada entre as duas principais forças políticas do regime monárquico, no que constituiu um marco essencial para a caracterização do rotativismo partidário entre regeneradores e progressistas.
其他摘要：The Constitutional Charter of 1826 was the fundamental law with the longer duration in the history of contemporary Portugal being in force for three distinct periods (1826-1828, 1834-1836 and 1842-1910). However, the original document has been revised four times throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries (1852, 1885, 1895-1896 and 1907), representing different moments in the realm’s political evolution. This paper aims to summarize the successive phases of constitutional reform, with particular emphasis on what happened in 1885, since that was a reform agreed between the two main political forces of the monarchy. This moment also represent a milestone for the characterization of the alternation in power between the “Regenerador” (center- right wing) and “Progressista” (center-left wing) parties in force until the eve of the Republic.
