摘要：El objetivo de esta revisión es actualizar los conocimientos existentes acerca de los atributos morfobotánicos y agroproductivos que caracterizan las especies del género Brachiaria más utilizadas en el sector ganadero, cuya importancia está avalada por su uso, de una u otra forma, en las zonas tropicales y subtropicales del nuevo y el viejo mundo. Por ello, se presentan temas relacionados con la taxonomía y la descripción del género, sus principales especies, su origen y adaptación, y algunos resultados que se han obtenido en términos de rendimiento de biomasa comestible, comportamiento general en diferentes ambientes, así como su respuesta en condiciones específicas de manejo. Además, se abordan temáticas relacionadas con el mejoramiento genético de estas especies y las nuevas variedades que se han logrado a través de la genética clásica y/o la biotecnología.
其他摘要：The objective of this review is to update the existing knowledge about the morpho-botanical and agroproductive features that characterize the species of the Brachiaria genus most used in the livestock sector, which importance is supported by its use, in one way or another, in tropical and subtropical areas of the new and the old world. That is why, topics are presented related to the taxonomy and description of the genus, its main species, their origin and adaptation, and some results that have been obtained regarding yield of edible biomass, general performance in different environments, as well as their response under specific management conditions. Besides, there is reference to the genetic improvement of these species and the new varieties that have been obtained through classical genetics and/or biotechnology.
