摘要：A revolução da educação teve enorme impacto nos últimos dois séculos. O ensino se generalizou e passou a ser obrigatório, enquanto o tempo gasto no banco escolar aumentou e os conteúdos ganharam diversidade - em suma, pode-se dizer que o próprio conceito de educação mudou. Para a maioria dos países, a educação é hoje entendida como um dos grandes desafios do desenvolvimento social. Nesse contexto, o ensino religioso, incluído no currículo das escolas brasileiras, representa a conquista de um espaço pelas instituições religiosas, assumindo o papel de formar o cidadão - e tornando-o capaz de interpretar o que lhe acontece diariamente e de agir na sociedade a que pertence.
其他摘要：The educational revolution was one of those with the greatest impact during the last two centuries. Elementary education popularized, became compulsory in many countries, the time to be spent in school increased and its contents were diversified. One could say that the concept of education changed and in most of the countries education is today foreseen as one of the most challenging realities of the future. In this context, religious education, as an element integrated in the brasilian schools curriculum, means a conquest of a real space for the religious institutions and assumes a new role with the aim of bringing up the citizen, making him able to interpret his everyday life in a pluralist society and enabling him to take part in that society as an active citizen.
